GICHD Innovation Award 2025

Honored to share that our abstract for the GICHD Innovation Award 2025 has been accepted!

Alongside Charlie Valentine, to put forth a submission focused on applying quantitative risk models—specifically FAIR™ methodology from cybersecurity—to the challenge of quantifying residual risk in land release.

This cross-disciplinary approach brings structured, data-driven rigor to humanitarian mine action, aiming to replace subjective judgments with measurable, transparent assessments. By leveraging proven frameworks like Bayesian modeling and Monte Carlo simulation, we are seeking to explore how this approach can aid mine action teams to make smarter, safer, and more efficient land release decisions.

We're excited to contribute to this year’s Innovation Award and to push forward solutions that are not just technologically bold, but feasible, scalable, and grounded in community safety.

Interested in how risk modeling can reshape mine action? I’d love to hear your thoughts or collaborate further.
